Top climate experts meet in Brussels for 2024 Climate Neutrality Forum

25 October 2024

October 28th-30th 2024, online and in-person at WTCIII

An important science-policy-practitioner conference in the climate calendar comes to Brussels next week.

With over 300 participants including leading academics, policy makers and private sector representatives, the Climate Neutrality Forum 2024 (CNF) offers a meeting place where policy and science leaders will discuss challenges and opportunities for achieving climate neutrality in front of an audience.

The dialogue will highlight the latest scientific understanding of key drivers of climate change as well as effective policies, measures and other interventions designed to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG)  emissions.  Audiences in person and online will gain insights into the latest GHG budgets, drivers and trends, including regional and global features, policies and actions. The forum will consider current knowledge on mitigation of climate change, including on emissions pathways and actions to keep 1.5°C within reach, ahead of COP29 in Azerbaijan in November.

Climate Neutrality Forum 2024 is a collaborative effort, based on ongoing work by leading experts, science assessment bodies and research funders.  The audience will be engaged in the dialogue and have the opportunity to network.

Key speakers include:

  • Jan Dusík, Deputy Director-General of DG CLIMA
  • Peter Wittoeck, Head of Climate Change Service at the Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment Ministry
  • María José Sanz Sánchez, Scientific Director of the BC3 – Basque Centre for Climate Change and Bureau member in IPCCs Task Force on National GHG Inventories
  • Myles Allen, Oxford University’s Head of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Planetary Physics in the Department of Physics
  • Werner Kutsch, Director of ICOS (Integrated Carbon Observation Service)
  • Anita Simon, Deputy CEO of energy company ALTEO
  • Barbara Botos, Hungarian Ambassador at Large for Climate
  • Carlo Buontempo, Director of Copernicus Climate Change Service at ECMWF

The Climate Neutrality Forum offers something for every climate professional, researcher and policy influencer and will produce a policy relevant report on state of knowledge on climate neutrality.

CNF is a dialogue forum that is part of the Equinox Process to accelerate the transfer of knowledge from science to policy and action, an initiative of JPI Climate and supported by the Horizon EU MAGICA Project.
