The Ocean Decade Conference “Delivering the science we need for the ocean we want” will take place on 10-12 April 2024 As part of the Ocean Decade Week (8-12 April 2024) in Barcelona, Spain
The team of MAGICA project and Knowledge Hub on Sea Level Rise will attend the conference and will present the first European Assessment Report of the Knowledge Hub on Sea Level Rise, a joint endeavour by JPI Climate and JPI Oceans featuring Co-Chairs Professor Nadia Pinardi from University of Bologna and Bart van den Hurk, co-chair of WG2 of the IPCC.
The presentation will take place on-site at the Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB) on Thursday 11 April during the lunch slot in the timing 13:15 to 14:45 presented by Bart van den Hurk. Full programme of the event can be seen here. It will also be livestreamed and can also be followed via this link here.
Name of the satellite event: Coastal Futures: Charting priorities for coastal resilience
About the report:
The report strives to synthesize the current scientific knowledge on sea level rise and its impacts across local, national, and European basin scales, to support evidence-based policy and decision making primarily targeting coastal areas. Employing an integrated and interdisciplinary approach in assessing state of the art information, the report aims to not only consolidate existing knowledge but also to identify gaps in (available) knowledge. It takes the current policy landscape and adaptation planning in Europe as reference and seeks to equip decision makers with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions about protective and adaptive measures against the impacts of rising sea levels.
