In conjunction with its final event on September 25, 2026, MAGICA will launch its new Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) 2026-2035.
Through the identification of four strategic research challenges, the SRIA provides a shared framework and outlines the research and innovation priorities for climate action across the European Research Area for the next decade. It aims to support the coordination of national and European research efforts, strengthen collaboration across disciplines and countries, and provide a common reference for future research and funding activities.
The SRIA is the result of a long, iterative preparation process. It encompassed evidence gathering, synthesis of existing knowledge, identification of research gaps, and proposal definition. The project conducted a large stakeholder consultation to validate and refine the draft, ensuring alignment, gap identification, and transparency.
The launch of the SRIA represents a key outcome for MAGICA. The agenda 2026-2035 translates the project’s work into a lasting strategic reference, that can continue to guide climate research and innovation beyond its lifetime. For its implementation, which is beyond the project objectives, JPI Climate in collaboration with its members and the European Commission will work towards alignment of research activities, while building on the Equinox Process, another major outcome of MAGICA.
