At the latest Climate Neutrality Forum, organised in Brussels in October 2024, JPI Climate brought together scientists, policymakers, and practitioners to examine the progress towards climate neutrality. That progress faces pressing challenges – the need for rapid emissions reductions, increasing investment in climate solutions, accelerating carbon dioxide removals, improving knowledge transfer from science to policy, etc.
This report offers key insights into those challenges by highlighting the latest science and examining the requirements for further development in critical areas such as:
- Emissions of key Greenhouse Gases
- Land ecosystems and land-based GHG accounting
- Carbon dioxide removal
- Policy options to accelerate decarbonisation and transition away from fossil fuels
