Leaders in policy, science and industry who are steering Europe towards climate neutrality moved closer to their goal after the Climate Neutrality Forum in Brussels last week.
The three-day conference provided a vital hub for the exchange of the latest climate science research and its potential for accelerating progress to climate action targets.
The programme was a blend of scientific and policy-led discussions. When each session closed the discussions carried on, with policy decision-makers able to drill down into how research can support them in implementing impactful change to protect society, the economy and the environment from the impacts of climate change.
Climate Neutrality Forum (CNF) is a dialogue forum that is part of the Equinox Process to accelerate the transfer of knowledge from science to policy and action, an initiative of JPI Climate and supported by the Horizon EU MAGICA Project. It is a collaborative drive for effective climate action, based on ongoing work by leading experts, science assessment bodies and research funders.
A key to the success of CNF was integrating policy, science and industry in each topic addressed, with attendees able to robustly quiz each other and present the challenges they face and the support they need to overcome them.
CNF discussions are feeding into an Equinox report – Accelerating Climate Action Now – which aims to support those making and influencing climate policy decisions with a series of key Europe-focused messages.
The outcomes of the CNF will be discussed at the session held on 18 November at COP29, Baku, Azerbaijan from 17:30-18:30, in Spanish Pavilion providing an opportunity to hear about the key findings of the CNF in the context of the Equinox process.
