A much-needed priority : Regions and cities shaping the European Green Deal 2.0

29 May 2024
VMA 23, European Committee of the Regions, Brussels

Europe is warming at a rate twice the global average. Climate and environmental crises risk deepening existing inequalities, damaging critical infrastructure, disrupting agricultural and industrial production, with the most vulnerable regions and social groups at the greatest risk. These alarming trends underscore the urgent need for increased EU action: we need a Green Deal 2.0

This event will feature the participation of pioneering local and regional leaders alongside leading sustainability transition experts to discuss recommendations for a Green Deal 2.0 aimed at ensuring just and inclusive well-being within planetary boundaries.

This event is organized in the frame of the Green Deal Going Local initiative of the European Committee of the Regions, and it is part of the CoR activities within the Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy and the European Climate Pact.

The event will take place in-person on Wednesday 29 May 2024 from 14:30 to 16:30 in the room VMA 23 in the European Committee of the Regions premises (Rue Belliard 99-101, Brussels)
