The second Equinox Summit will take place on 26 March 2024 in Brussels. MAGICA will organize the summit with JPI Climate, and the event will occur under the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
An in-between step was taken at the Think2030 Dialogue Spain (Madrid, 16 November 2023) under the Spanish Presidency, where JPI Climate hosted a session to frame the issue of how to ensure constant interactions between science and policymakers.
The Equinox Process aims to accelerate the transfer of knowledge from science and innovation to support policy and implementation of actions in Europe. Started with 1st Equinox Summit in Brussels, 21-22 March 2023.
Out of the first Equinox Summit, the following statement was endorsed by different parties:
[...]to establish a process to determine how to accelerate the transfer of knowledge from science and innovation to climate policy and actions, taking account of the need to forge a new generation of committed scientists and experts who are aware of the priorities related to the “Climate Change Science” and communicators, considering and including the role science plays in informing achievement of climate neutrality, climate resilience and managing social, economic, secure, and just transitions and transformations.
